County staff invites you to our CAP Workshop during Planning Commission on March 19, 2025 at 9:00 am.

The workshop will include discussion of the proposed Climate Action Plan update and new reduction targets consistent with the California Air Resources Board's (CARB) 2022 Scoping Plan, new and modified reduction measures consistent with our latest regulations and situations, and our next steps for Riverside County.

The 2025 Draft Climate Action Plan (CAP) Update has been released to the public for review and comments. The 2025 CAP Update refines the County's efforts to meet greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction strategies, specifically for the years 2035 and 2050. The 2025 CAP Update builds upon the GHG reduction strategies in the 2019 CAP.

Proposed 2025 CAP Update measures would achieve reductions in GHG production by addressing energy efficiency in existing and new residential and non-residential buildings, increasing water efficiency, expanding transportation options and electrifying of fleets, reducing landfilled waste, promoting clean energy use and electrification of equipment and aviation, and promoting best management practices in agricultural activities.

The Riverside County 2025 Climate Action Plan update applies to all unincorporated areas of Riverside County and seeks to integrate the County’s past and current efforts with its future efforts to grow and thrive sustainably.
