The subject EIR has studied the Palo Verde Mesa Solar Project which proposes the construction, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning of a solar photovoltaic (PV) electrical generating facility of up to 450 megawatts (MW) and 14.5-mile gen-tie line that would together occupy a total of 3,400 acres. The solar facility is comprised of three sites that would be constructed in phases. Site 1 (Phase 1) would total 905 acres and would have a generation output of 145 MW; Site 2 (Phase 2) would total 1,343 acres and would have a generation output of 221 MW; and Site 3 (Phase 3) would total 1,002 acres and would have a generation output of 104 MW.
The project includes the following land use applications: Conditional Use Permit No. 3684 proposes the solar photovoltaic facility as described above; Public Use Permit No. 916 is required for the proposed gen-tie line crossing of Hobson Way.
